In collaboration with the Ecole Supérieure des Affaires, the Islamic Financial Management Institute (IFMI) organizes an Islamic Finance workshop entitled:
Islamic Sukuk: Is it the solution to Islamic Capital Markets?
The workshop will take place on July 22, 2008 at 06:30 p.m. at the Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (ESA) - 289 Clemenceau Street, Medgulf Auditorium. It will be delivered by Dr. Jamil A.K. El Jaroudi and Dr. Anwar Misbah Subra of ELAF Bank.
Dr. Jamil El Jaroudi is the Chief Executive Officer of Elaf Bank, an Islamic investment bank headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He has over 35 years of relevant financial experience. Since 1997, he has devoted his efforts exclusively to support the growth and development of the regional Islamic banking industry. He was closely involved in the establishment of Arab Finance House in 2004 in Lebanon. In late 2006, Dr. Jaroudi assisted in the development of Elaf Bank. Dr. Jaroudi holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Kellogg School, Northwestern University, USA.
Dr. Anwar Misbah Subra is Head of Shari'a Structuring and Compliance at ELAF Bank. He arranged many seminars in Beirut, in participation with the Lebanese Central Bank, on issues related to Islamic Banking. He has many publications in the field of Islamic Finance and Islamic banking.
The two presentations will tackle the Islamic banking and Capital markets deficiencies and will elaborate on Sukuk from a Sharia point of view and from AAIOFI standards.
