Certificate in Arts Management

Introduction

The Art Business course gives participants an introduction and overview to the overall art market and the art world at large. It offers students the opportunity to gain specialized knowledge and insight into the most important relevant aspects of the art business, including the role of law and finance in the art world.

The course will introduce participants to important factors to consider when working with artists, institutions, auction houses and collectors. Emphasis is put on practical aspects such as contracts, valuations, insurance, acquisitions and sales, but the course will also give participants an understanding of the mechanisms and structures that determine price and value as well as the historic background of the art world.
Visits to local galleries and museums will round out the course.
The highlight will be a 4-day trip to London, visiting the important museums, galleries and auction houses of the city, as well as exclusive studio visits with leading contemporary artists.
